The Faculty of Music, University of Arts in Belgrade is the main state and the most prominent higher music education institution in Serbia, continuously existing since its foundation in 1937. In more than eight decades, the Faculty of Music successfully educated professionals who continually define, shape, create and direct the cultural stage in the country and the region. Furthermore, the Faculty of Music has fundamentally influenced the continuity of music creativity and scientific thinking on music, forming professionals who have been having an invaluable impact on the cultural life in Serbia. Degrees on completed studies at the Faculty of Music have always been valued as a genuine mark of excellence, recognizing broader knowledge applicable in diverse fields of contemporary professions.

The Faculty of Music’s academic and instructional staff comprises over two hundred teachers, teaching associates, and a few dozen staff members. Almost a thousand students are currently enrolled in all levels of studies – bachelor, master and doctoral (PhD and DocArtes), including three main directions: Performing Arts, Composition and Music Science.

The tasks are the following:

  • Teaching at three subsequent educational levels (bachelor, master, doctoral studies): General Psychology, Psychology of Music, Psychology of Music Performance, Psychology of Music Giftedness, and Psychological Aspects of Public Performance Preparation (major and minor courses). Also, general pedagogy and Pedagogy in Music Education (major and minor sourses).
  • Research and publishing. Currently, the Proceedings of the second international Psychology and Music – Interdisciplinary Encounters Conference Belgrade 2022 is in preparation. It will be published in June 2023.

  • The Proceedings of the PAM-IE Belgrade 2022 contain papers of academics and psychologists from the applied field of music psychology. We expect that the publication will have value in knowledge dissemination and empowering practitioners, psychologists and musicians, to implement research results in their everyday music education practice. It will be published as ePublication on the website of the Faculty of Music in Belgrade.

  • Participating at the international conference Eight International Symposium of Music Pedagogues – Music Pedagogy in the Context of Present and Future Changes,  4-6th May 2023 at the Academy of Music, Juraj Dobrila University in Pula, Croatia. Programme is to be put on the website.

  • The Music Psychology Section will be organized (6.5.2023.) by the members of Regional Network Psychology and Music, where prof. dr Blanka Bogunovic is the coordinator. Presenters will be psychologists and music pedagogues.
